A battle versus Midori's father with low-level Denjuu. This is, of course, Keitai Denjuu Telefang 2: Speed Version.
All I can gather from this battle, as opposed to the other, is:
a) He's far more savvy about elemental rock-paper-scissors than the protagonist's father, and
b) He's more of an absolute pain to defeat.
The first two rounds are brutal in both this battle and the previous. If the enemy T-Fanger uses the "Combo OK" command, it's over. (For reference, this orders all three denjuu to attack a given target in rapid succession, denying any opportunity to heal.) Once Gymnos (Named Demonos here) and Anpipito showed up, the tension loosened dramatically. Still, I thought I was going to lose Anpipito after Pewee's Ice Trap at 1:55.
Again, I spam Denma Attacks to help close the level gap some. The purple gauge below a Denjuu's health shows DP - Denma Power. Basically, Denma Attacks cost either 30 or 50 DP - no DP to spend means no Denma Attack for you. I'm spamming them here because A) They're more powerful than normal, costless attacks, B) I have to put out enough damage to drop a Denjuu before the enemy T-Fanger jumps in to partake in his Herb/Pill habit, and C) Because they look a lot cooler than normal attacks.
One non-Denma attack worth mention here, however, is Anpipito's Flash - it blinds an enemy and renders them incapable of striking accurately (this is good, since Anpipito lacked a Denma attack during this fight). To put that in perspective, during the first two rounds - where Rex is soldiering out on his own - my biggest danger is getting hit three times. Their Saber attack averages about 20-25 - just about one-third of Rex's 70HP. Had he gone down, I would have lost, regardless of backup. (Let's not discuss how many times this occured.) By preventing one Denjuu from hitting, I essentially reduced the danger the enemy Denjuu present to a loss of currency spent on healing items.
You might have noticed by now that this video moves really fast. That's the result of my using a different video compressor while recording than I did previously. The other one resulted in a really LARGE file, since it captured frame-by-frame exactly. However, this one slows the emulator while it processes the images and sound bits. Since it reduces the running speed by half, the game only reads button input half as fast, with the result that my reaction speed seems doubled.
Also, it would seem from the english letter "D" in the dialogue, in japanese quotes, that something happens to my D-Shot (the device used to contact Denjuu, among other functions) after battle. Come to think of it, this happened after the fight with the protaganist's father as well.
Hrm, that's well worth looking into.
